Hopes, fears, questions, joys.

These are things of being a father. Much is written and discussed about the difficult task of being a mother, and rightfully so. It’s an amazingly tough and often thankless task. I, in this blog, would like to share and discuss being a Dad.

Being a dad for me is a matter of extremes. At the same time, and all the time, it is the best experience, and the most frustrating experience. And I’m not talking about with separate children! I often wonder if I’m doing anything right while I’m wondering what I’m doing wrong. It’s the ultimate dichotomy. My name, number1dad, is more of an aim, a hope, rather than a self-approved title. I’m sure every dad would like to be number one. At least to someone, if not himself.

Being a child can also be a matter of difficulty. But this blog is not about being a child, although every father is a child grown up. Comments are welcome – and infact, hoped for – but this is not the space to be airing views of how you are parented. If your current position is predominantly one of being a child, please find other places to discuss your issues. Right here, the context is one from the father’s point of view. I would like this to be a place where fathers can get together, to air, to vent, to discuss and to support one another.

I hope this blog is found by lots of fathers with more questions than answers, more hopes than findings and more wonderings than wanderings. I also hope it is found by fathers who have made it through (rather than around) and can offer insight and support to the rest of us.

Thank you – thank you for everyone who visits and reads.

And don’t forget to comment!

Good luck with the blog. I am dad also…I know what you are going through and how important it is for you and all dad’s to publish this journey.

Good thoughts. Well, at least they parallel my thoughts. I’m just a bit behind you in starting a blog on the subject, as my baby girl was born just a couple of months ago. I’ll probably be popping by every once in a while. Cheers!

Good luck with the blog! We produce a online video show called DadLabs, which is for dads by dads. If we can help you out in any way let us know, http://www.dadlabs.com.
